Diverse student background

The interdisciplinary programmes are not the academic responsibility of a particular school or faculty, as several faculties contribute to the programmes. Students undertaking interdisciplinary studies can in most cases select the faculty they would like to graduate from, thereby determining the emphasis of their studies. However, this depends on programme regulations in each case and an agreement made by the contributing faculties.

Demand for individuals with a diverse education is constantly growing, and the University of Iceland has responded to this trend by making it easier for students to study more than one subject, and by offering various interdisciplinary programmes.
